Ministry is a calling built on deep love—being known by God and extending that love to others. Yet, for many pastors and ministry leaders, finding true community and spiritual nourishment can feel elusive. In this reflection, Rachel McAlister shares how attending The Pastorate’s Pastors Retreat offered her a sacred space of rest, renewal, and connection, reminding her that healthy ministry flows from a healthy soul. This past year, I’ve been part of The Pastorate’s Emerging Leaders Lab, and I can honestly say it has been one of the most transformative experiences of my ministry so far. Being in a cohort with other young leaders—especially other women in ministry—has been incredible.

The mission of The Pastorate is to strengthen pastors for the renewal of the Canadian church, to be a source of encouragement and connection that empowers pastors to lead with hope, courage, and clarity. Here are five key initiatives we’re focusing on in 2025.

In my nearly 20 years of pastoral work I had never seriously considered leaving ministry. That was, until a stretch of life that ran from January 2020 to May 2022. 

As of October 7, 2024, we’ve changed our name from the Canadian Church Leaders Network to The Pastorate in order to best represent our unwavering dedication to supporting pastors across Canada.
