Together, we’re building the Church of tomorrow, today.
The Pastorate comes alongside pastors in Canada to strengthen their heart, skill, and vision to equip them for a lifetime of faithful, vibrant ministry.
The Problem & The Possibility
There is a pastoral leadership crisis across our country.
The challenges within our pastoral landscape call for urgent attention. The statistics reveal a troubling reality and many denominations are seeing a stark decline in young pastors (One denomination has shared that for every 1 pastor stepping into a senior role, there are 7 senior pastors retiring). Numerous senior leader positions remain vacant while many young pastors express a sense of feeling ill-equipped, unready, and unsupported in taking on these roles.
Adding to the complexity, many churches struggle to develop leaders within their congregations, lacking the necessary time, energy, and resources. While many of our bible schools and seminaries continue to train some pastors, the need remains for ongoing pastoral formation that bridges the gap between theological knowledge and the practical intricacies of church leadership.
Amidst these challenges, a prevailing sense of deep discouragement and disillusionment pervades pastoral circles.
Many pastors are tired, lonely, and confused.
This is the backdrop against which The Pastorate sees a hopeful future for the church in Canada.
But we see the possibility of cultivating a flourishing pastoral landscape across Canada.
Our purpose is clear: to seed hope and courage.
We come alongside pastors, contending for a hopeful vision and pathway that extends beyond theory, into ongoing formation. Our aim is to strengthen pastors to navigate the complexities of real-world ministry through a comprehensive approach that includes mentorship and friendship, practical resourcing and training, and a supportive community to run the race with.
The Pastorate is a companion, seeding hope and courage, as you seek to faithfully serve Jesus and His Church in Canada.
We are:
We are:
Canada Committed
Jesus Centered
We trust the radical simplicity of following Jesus.
Our hope lies in an abiding life in Jesus, anchored in prayer and worship, and trusting in the Holy Spirit. We believe Jesus is enough and so we center our work on Him, not just doctrinal distinctives, leadership hacks or trends. We exist to support Pastors in finishing their race with more love for Jesus than when they started.
Kingdom Minded
We build wells rather than fences.
Rooted in orthodoxy, we reach across denominational lines, believing the mission requires the entire church's collective effort. We celebrate the beauty in the diverse mosaic of God's church in Canada, learning from various ministry contexts and Christian traditions. Our ecumenical and intergenerational approach centers on Jesus, building wells rather than fences.
Heart Focused
We’re interested in soul over strategy.
We prioritize heart and culture over mere tools and tactics, valuing soul over strategy. We cultivate an environment that champions vulnerability and genuine friendship, resisting pastoral pretense. Instead of conventional conferences, we focus on forming life-changing relationships.
Hope Filled
We contend for hope and courage.
We believe in the continual in-breaking of Jesus’ resurrection life and trust in His promise to build His church. Filled with hope for the new things God is doing, we share this hope and believe that the way forward is the way back to the way of Jesus. Characterized by relentless optimism, we contend for hope and courage.
We speak to and from Canada.
We are distinctly Canadian, telling stories of God’s transformative work in our nation and dedicated to the unique needs of Canadian pastors. We create content and design experiences specifically for them, collaborating with the whole church in Canada.
